Review: These are chick monsters! They have a nice full sound that you'd expect from heavy cymbals. To my ears they weren't dull sounding like heavier cymbals can seem. They have definition and volume, and just a great BIG sound.
I did compare them to the 3000 14" Heavy Hi-Hat, and they seem a little darker. You can tell in the closeup pics below these have a pretty complex lathing, somewhat similar to Signatures, and pretty much the same as the 3OOO hats I mentioned.
But, don't get the wrong impression from the name - these are not as heavy as you'd imagine. Zildjian's New Beat hi-hats are heavier, both on top and on bottom. (Generally the New Beats' Top weighs in the 1,000s, and the Bottom weighs around 1,400 grams) I also have the Formula 602 14" Extra Heavy Hi-Hat, and the 602's are heavier, quite a bit heavier than these 2002s.
