The Paiste Sound Alloy
Our "Sound Alloy" is the first bronze formula ever developed specifically for making cymbal sounds.
When we achieved break-through in the development process in 1988, it
became apparent that the sound potency in our new bronze surpassed our
wildest expectations. To date, we have created Paiste Line "Signature",
Sound Formula, and the new Paiste Line "Traditional" collection,
convincingly substantiating the incredible sound range of our patented
"Sound Alloy".

Effects
- Splash (6",8",10",12")
- Explosive, full, warm and very clear. The ultimate splash sound that works perfectly for studio as well as live situations.
- Bell (8",10")
- Very
thick cymbal that gives a long sustain with high pitched sound.
Versatile results can be achieved, depending on the choice of the
striking tool.
- Thin China (14", 16", 18", 20")
- Dark,
full, trashy sound. Very explosive when first struck, followed by a
soft, quick sustain. Well suited for softer volume situations.
- Heavy China (18", 20", 22")
- Explosive,
full, bright and trashy, with longer sustain than the Thin China.
Better suited for heavy players and louder situations.
Hi-Hats
- Medium Hi-Hat (12", 13", 14")
- A
well rounded, all purpose hi-hat. Has a soft, dry quality along with
good chick sound. Well suited for light to moderate volume situations.
- Dark Crisp Hi-Hat (13", 14")
- A
very thick bottom and thin top cymbal makes this a truly versatile
hi-hat. A warm, pronounced stick sound along with a beautiful, dark and
crisp chick.
- Sound Edge Hi-Hat (13", 14", 15")
- Both
the stick and chick sound are very bright, sharp and cutting. Great
splashy sound when played slightly open, with strong projection, for
medium to loud situations.
- Heavy Hi-Hat (12", 13", 14", 15")
- Heavier
than the Medium, and a brighter, stronger sound. Tight stick sound,
with great projection. Well suited for heavy, loud situations.
- Power Hi-Hat (13", 14", 15")
- The
heaviest of the hi-hats, with extra power and projection. A very sharp,
cutting sound that works very well for high volume situations.
Crashes
- Mellow Crash (15", 16", 17", 18")
- Beautifully
warm, mellow crash with a full sound and short sustain. A dry quality
that can also be used for very soft, light ride patterns.
- Fast Crash (14", 15", 16", 17", 18")
- This
crash is warm, full and beautifully transparent. A very thin crash that
reaches its full sound immediately, whether contact is strong or light.
- Full Crash (14", 16", 17", 18", 20")
- A
medium weight, versatile cymbal with a bright, full crash and medium
length decay. A full bodied sound, sparkly and shimmering.
- Power Crash (16", 17", 18", 19", 20")
- The
heaviest crash, producing the strongest crash sound and longest
sustain. Overall higher in pitch, well suited for loud situations where
projection is needed.
Rides
- Dry Crisp Ride (20")
- A
soft, "woody" touch with a low subtle wash underneath and a fairly well
defined ping. The sound appearance is cool, dry and medium-light.
- Mellow Ride ( 20")
- A thin cymbal with a sweet, soft ping and mellow wash underneath. Good for lighter situations.
- Rough Ride (20", 22")
- A
thin, exotic, dark and trashy sound, very different from all the other
rides. A cymbal that inspires creativity and originality.
- Flat Ride (18", 20", 22")
- Prominent
stick definition with very little build-up, even when played
forcefully. A clear, sweet ping with quiet wash, excellent for low to
medium volume situations.
- Full Ride ( 20", 22")
- An
all purpose, medium weight ride with rich harmonics and a silvery ping.
The bell sound is clear, crisp and separated from the cymbal body sound.
- Bright Ride (20")
- Overall sound is bright and clean, with very little build up. The pitch of the ping is slightly higher than the Full Ride.
- Dark Full Ride (20")
- With
less mid-range frequency presence, this ride has excellent separation
between the ping and wash. Very versatile and easily controllable, with
a beautiful bell.
- Dry Ride (20")
- With
little overtones, this ride is darker in nature with good stick
definition, and a warm wash underneath. The ping has a nice "cushion"
to ride over.
- Dry Heavy Ride (20", 21", 22")
- A
heavy version of the Dry Ride, higher pitched and stronger overall. The
bell sound is pronounced while still remaining close to the overall
cymbal sound.
- Dry Dark Ride (20", 22")
- Hammered
but not lathed, this ride is very raw, dark and funky. Very little
overtones, a clear, dark ping and excellent bell. Very good for fast
ride patterns.
- Power Ride (20", 22")
- A
heavy cymbal with overall brightness, a powerful ping and lively
overtones. With a very powerful bell, this ride is for loud volume
situations.
