Paiste Alpha
Made from our CuSn8 bronze, Alpha cymbals are essentially a member of
the 2002 sound family. Designed as a benchmark for what Paiste
considers basic professional sound quality and function, Alpha models
are created with wide-ranging musical versatility in mind. They are
hand hammered and hand lathed, making them unique in their price
category.
The general sound feelings are bright, energetic,
powerful and cutting. Alpha cymbals have the clarity, projection,
warmth and the tonal definition one expects from a professional caliber
instrument; great sounding cymbals for a moderate investment.
The Alpha series continues to draw from the
innovations Paiste made in expanding the 2002 and Sound Formula series,
allowing us to enhance the Alpha series with the developments derived
from our latest sound research.

By continuing to expand the sound capabilities of the Alpha series,
Paiste allows you to explore your creative musical skills even at the
basic professional level. Shown here are some of the newest additions
to the Alpha series: the Flat Ride brings an elegant appeal to the
Alpha, while the Crystal Crashes provide unusual harmonics for a crash
cymbal. The Power Splashes enhance the forceful side of the Alpha
series, and the 14" China adds an interesting small china sound.

Effects
- Splash (8", 10", 12")
- Bright,
quick and powerful. A cutting effect useful for highlighting and
accenting. Similar to the 2002 splash but with more weight.
- Power Splash (12", 14")
- A quick, full, snappy splash that can take heavy playing. Recommended for loud situations where a cutting splash is needed.
- China (14", 16", 18", 20")
- A trashy, powerful china with a moderate decay.
Hi-Hats
- Medium Hi-Hat (12", 13", 14")
- An all-purpose hi-hat with a tight stick sound and a clean, warm overall sound. Good for light to moderate volume situations.
- Sound Edge Hi-Hat (13", 14")
- A
high pitched, articulate stick sound accompanied by a defined chick
sound. Good projecting wash when half open. For moderate to loud
situations.
- Power Hi-Hat (14", 15")
- With
extra power and projection, this hi-hat combines strong chick sound
with a projecting stick, closed or half open. Clean sound for high
volume situations.
Crashes
- Crystal Crash (14", 16", 18")
- With
its unique bell shape, this crash is less forceful than the Thin Crash
or Crash. The sound is short, "crystal-like" and perfect for musical
situations requiring control.
- Thin Crash (14", 16", 18")
- This
Thin Crash has a bit more body than other thin crashes. A crisp, fast
reacting sound that carries well. Suited for a variety of styles.
- Crash (14", 16", 18")
- A
medium weight, all-purpose crash that has a full range of brightness,
warmth and body. Immediate crash sound and medium decay time.
- Power Crash (16", 18")
- A
full bodied, projecting crash, high in pitch and very bright. Well
suited for situations where high volume crash sound is needed.
Rides
- Full Ride (20")
- Medium
weight, multi-purpose ride. A clean, articulate stick sound with a
full, round wash underneath. Very dynamic and useful in many situations.
- Dry Ride (20")
- The
stick sound is clean and clear with little wash, even though this
cymbal is on the medium-light side. Suited for either acoustic or low
to moderate amplified situations.
- Flat Ride (20")
- A
unique Flat Ride, very clear and defined stick with soft, controlled
overtones at any playing volume. Works very well with the Crystal Crash.
- Heavy Ride (22")
- Heavier
than the Full and Dry Ride, with very good stick definition and a clean
sounding bell. Dry in quality, good for any style of music desiring
articulation.
- Power Ride (20")
- A
very powerful ride that has a bright stick sound, lively overtones and
a piercing bell. For players needing power and projection, this works
extremely well.
